Blackpool SENDIAS Service
SENDIASS is short for Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Information, Advice Support Service (IASS) and exists to help parents and carers of children who have, or may have, special educational needs and/or disabilities; and children and young people themselves, in matters relating to their Education, Health or Social Care provision.
Our support services are tailored to your individual needs and are both personal and confidential. We can offer you:
- Independent information about Special Educational Needs & Disability (SEND).
- Advice about working with those involved with you, your child or young person.
- Information about local support networks.
- Support to arrange Mediation and Disagreement Resolution.
- Support with SEND Tribunal claims.
- Opportunities to improve and shape services through our SEND IAS Steering Group.
Support is available by phone, email, website and face to face meetings and our role is to enable children, young people and their families to support themselves.
You will find access to a range of information below which will help you to understand local policy and the SEN legal framework enabling you to support your child or young person more effectively.
About Blackpool SENDIASS
Special Educational Needs and Disability, Information, Advice, Support Services (SENDIASS) are statutory services which provide information, advice and support to parents and carers of children and young people who have, or may have, special educational needs (SEN) and/or disabilities; and young people themselves (16+).
Our Service is FREE of charge and is operated independently of the Local Authority by POINT. This means that we can provide impartial information, advice and support, which will focus on the needs of the child or young person.

Blackpool Sendiass Young person information
This Information is for young people who are between 16 and 25 years and who have a special educational need or a disability.
It can give you advice if you are unhappy with your special educational needs (SEN) provision or support in school or college and need help and guidance to sort those problems out.
As a young person you don’t have to go through the processes of this guide alone, you can get a parent, carer or advocate to support you and do this for you. An advocate is someone who can help you and your parents to say what you want if you find it difficult to do so. For example: you can contact us and we can help find you someone to help you put forward your views or attend meetings with you.

There are a variety of ways for you to get in touch with the Blackpool SENDIASS Service. Please note that our team members are based remotely attending meetings at schools and other settings and cannot always respond immediately. A voicemail is available on our phone lines 24 hours a day. It is essential that you leave a voicemail message with your contact details, otherwise we are unable to return your call. Blackpool SENDIAS Service aim to respond to all contacts within 48 hours, whichever way you choose to contact the service. Details of how to get in touch are displayed below.

Our usual operating hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm however out of hours appointments can be arranged upon request to accommodate parent, carer and young person availability.
