Activites & Shortbreaks

POINT is the lead provider of the Oldham Short Breaks Play and Leisure programme offering a range of activities for children and young people with additional needs and/or disabilities aged 0-19.
POINT work with a range of partners to ensure we offer a comprehensive range of age appropriate activities which focus on developing your child or young person’s confidence, improve socialising, develop opportunities to make new friends and support life skills. All our partners are signed up to Oldham Co-production Values ensuring that children and young people take the lead on shaping the offer and activities that POINT and their partners deliver.
Short Breaks Play and Leisure activities follow Oldham School term dates featuring separate term-time and school holiday programmes. The current timetables can be found along with a sample of the activities your child or young person can access. The timetables also indicate the dates that these programmes will run from and until.

SENDIASS is short for Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Information, Advice Support Service (IASS) and exists to help parents and carers of children who have, or may have, special educational needs and/or disabilities; and children and young people themselves, in matters relating to their Education, Health or Social Care provision.
Our support services are tailored to your individual needs and are both personal and confidential. We can offer you:
- Independent information about Special Educational Needs & Disability (SEND).
- Advice about working with those involved with you, your child or young person.
- Information about local support networks.
- Support to arrange Mediation and Disagreement Resolution.
- Support with SEND Tribunal claims.
- Opportunities to improve and shape services through our SEND IAS Steering Group.
Support is available by phone, email, website and face to face meetings and our role is to enable children, young people and their families to support themselves.

Welcome to The Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Mediation and Disagreement Resolution service operated by POINT.
SEND Mediation and Disagreement Resolution is FREE service providing opportunities to resolve disagreements at the earliest opportunity.
Most disagreements can be resolved through Mediation or Disagreement Resolution, supporting good communication and reducing the stress and time commitments of making an appeal to the SEND Tribunal, however accessing Mediation or Disagreement Resolution does not prevent you from making a claim to the SEND Tribunal if a solution cannot be found.
The POINT SEND Mediation and Disagreement Resolution service is available to:
- Parents and Carers of children and young people (Aged 0-25) who have, or may have Special Educational Needs and/ or Disabilities; and
- Young people aged 16+ who have Special Educational Needs and or Disabilities.
If you are considering Mediation or Disagreement Resolution as a way to resolve a disagreement, you should contact one of our mediation advisors to discuss your disagreement. Our trained team will be able to advise you about your particular situation and how the service may be able to assist you in finding a solution.

The POINT SEND Workshops and Training service currently provides FREE support to parents and carers in the form of workshops & training. The offer of support includes:
- A rolling programme of themed training workshops which aim to inform and equip parents and carers with a better understanding of their children’s needs, and strategies to help support their children’s areas of difficulty.
- Information marketplace events, designed to enable parents and carers to quickly and easily access information and advice from a range of services and providers.
- One-to-one follow up sessions offered where needed, following attendance at workshops, to further support parents and carers develop their understanding.
- Signposting to other appropriate support services.
- Support and advice from service co-ordinators in person, over the phone, or via email.
POINT is a professional training Organisation with expertise in Autism and SEND. POINT is a UK Registered Learning Provider with the UK Provider Reference Number (UKPRN): 10084799.
The UK Register of Learning Providers is a ‘one-stop’ portal to be used by government departments, agencies, learners, and employers to share key information about learning providers. The UKRLP allows providers to update their information in one place and share this across agencies such as the Skills Funding Agency, the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA), the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) and UCAS.
